5659 HollyOak Drive -80’s Architectural

Another Fine open house

Thanks to all of you that came along for the bank holiday weekend open house at the hollyoak 5659 HollyOak Drive. This house boasts 4 bed 5 bath and 2800 sq ft of living with peaceful canyon views. My first impressions of this house were it is well built. I am big critic of hillside homes as I always feel this is a hard one to get right. These homes usually end up being a compromise between frontal views and darkness on the hillside back of the house. I was not disappointed with the HollyOak house this weekend. Well built, solid construction, good orientation on its lot, and the remodel was pretty good as well.  I did however feel the original design of the house could have provided more of an outdoor space for entertaining and maybe reduced the overall sq footage of living space,. Although I believe builds in the 1980’s were mostly about  palatial from the frontage over any other item on the wish list,  this design is typical for the time. It leaves you wondering who the ideal candidate to live in this home is though? A huge footprint of a building like this would command a large family for sure- although not a growing family with small children  who have to carry groceries and a stroller up so many stairs… Still, a wonderful entertainers home for $1.15m

1Asee how the lower garage is situated as a lower cut into the hillside, then the rest of the house is built outwards over the hill to the right with an outdoor step way running up to the front entrance. Good utility of hillside!
